OOC: Another joke entry of a sort, although it does figure as a badass one off later on in Abh's "Fighting for the Empire" storyline, circumstances warranting.
Credit (or blame) goes to my interpretation of Full Metal Panic's ARX-8 Leviathan series of giant robots and the infamous Juggernaut Bitch parody, produced by My Way Entertainment, seen here.
The video is definetly not safe for work. That is all.
IC:
M70BA1 Juggernaut
An experimental model giant robot developed by Tex Conagher of the United Colonial Volunteer Corps, it was developed in response to the threat of highly empowered Tyranid forces and the fact that they came in massive numbers. Seeking to create a "hero unit" that could easily handle the endless waves of Tyranids, Tex collaborated with the other PA operators to craft a mecha which could stand up to the challenge.
The result was the Juggernaut.
The Juggernaut differs from the standard M70B Arbalest in that it includes the Conagher Engine. Inspired by the rumors of the existence of a superpowered reality altering device called the Lambda Device, now lost, as well as Dr. Tennenbaum's work in reality alteration, Conagher crafted his own high-energy reality altering unit using Tennenbaum's principles, a zero-point energy manipulator and a PA Brain Plug modified with a booster so normals could use it.
THe Conagher Engine essentially is the heart of the Juggernaut. Upon activation, it utilizes the user's will and emotions to dramatically improve combat effectiveness. If the user wishes to live, the emergency shields incorporated into the engine will overcharge the Juggernaut's shielding, enabling him to withstand even the most dangerous orbital strikes. If the user is really pissed off and wants to toss an enemy giant into his lines, his unit's artificial muscles are overcharged and the surrounding environs altered to provide absurd amounts of strength.
In addition to the Conagher Engine, the mecha itself is cleared to use a customized cannon. Known as the "Pimp Cane," it is a giant, upscaled 155mm HV Railgun, with a 10-shot integral magazine. And, another weapon, a giant hammer known as Mijonir, is also an option.
Such is the weight and size of these weapons that only the Juggernaut can use it, and only when the Conagher Engine is enabled. Additionally, the Juggernaut in general is equipped with integral weapons bays in its forearms and shins, with missiles, 40mm railcannons and AT Daggers as well as an enhanced suspension and muscle and power system to handle the new weapons and to enable the Juggernaut to perform complex manuevers, as well as some expanded weapons capacity for AT Daggers and other gear.
The downsides to the Juggernaut, however, are huge.
For one thing, the Conagher Engine induces fatigue upon the user after extended usage, as well as emotional instability leaning to exaggerated aggression and bravado, which can prove reckless in combat. Subjects are reported to begin talking in long rambling, threatening rants after extended usage, and all subjects reportedly take on the persona of the mecha itself after repeated and extended usage, simply known as "The Jugganaut," with personalities taking on increased aggression.
Additionally, the mecha itself is considerably larger in size than a standard Arbalest, especially with the Pimp Cane and Mijonir, compromising stealth. Another thing that hurts stealth is the fact that the Juggernaut lacks a cloaking device and, due to the complexity of its systems, could not mount the latest in scanning systems.
And, its systems, geared for direct combat and high aggression, suffer from the old problem of power drain, with the suit only good for thirty hours of direct combat, twenty five with the Conagher Engine enabled.
