[New Dornalia]

The New Yorktown Naval Weapons Station in New Yorktown, New Hokkaido County on the surface, is a simple remote research outpost and armory in the remote fringes of the Prates Supercluster which refuels ships and hosts a border defense unit. It is nestled in a relatively green, wooded area, with a temperature and biome type similar to the Eastern United States.

It's also just as rural, with not many big urban centers--then again, the whole planet is zoned for military use, and most residents are military dependents living in suburban-style gated communities, with civilian contractors being the only civvies really aside from the pre-military homesteaders, who still live in the area and occasionally supply food to the base. Tract housing for military dependents is everywhere in New Yorktown and a light rail and bus line supplies transport for those without their own cars.

However, in reality it is a massive, sprawling complex home to three different administrative agencies and a whole host of nasty superweapons. It consists of both surface facilities, such as a massive Artillery and Rocketry Test Range, aboveground barracks for the military, and a motor pool, as well as subsurface facilities. There is also, oddly enough, a Wilderness Park with both aboveground and underground components used for testing the viability of animal specimens as well as extensive greenery throughout, both for asthetics and for security.

Selected for its remote location and tranquility, New Yorktown Naval Weapons Station is by Presidential Order now jointly maintained by not just the Colonial Republican Navy, but all the Colonial Republican Armed Forces branches as well as the External Research and Intelligence Section and the Tennenbaum Institute. The Station in particular is home to elements of the 555th Infantry Division, the Naval Scientific Research and Special Applications Unit Six (with attendant naval guards, etc.), 2nd Battalion, 9th Marine Division, and an entire Marine Aviation Squadron, VMF-666, the "Three Six Mafia"; it is also home to the 4077th Composite Test Squadron, which once dueled pilots in DACT training until being recently seconded to Unit Six, so as to test fighters and exotic technologies. ERIS Agents and attendant selected mercenary teams screened for high-level clearance also have been seen on the base.

Why is this? President Haggar and Supreme Commander Katarzyna Wachowski were initially concerned with the development of more sophisticated planetary defenses as part of the DORCOM initiative. However, as time went on, a variety of factors lead to Wachowski increasing its importance as a center of superweapons research--namely, internal reports suggesting improvements could be made to the infinite improbability bomb, an endless stream of e-mails from the Tennenbaum Institute looking for work, and observations made by the Dornalian Expeditionary Force in the Gamma Quadrant, among others.

As such, funding was increased, and in order to keep Congress quiet with the money matters, a partnership with ERIS and the Tennenbaum Institute was established to allow a greater access to exotic research materials (and also to keep Nadine's research on the same page as everyone else's).

The facility itself currently has several large laboratories dedicated to Cybernetic Warfare, NBC Warfare, High Energy Warfare, and other such things. Dr. Tennenbaum has reportedly taken a long residency there to finally get back to making things that blow up as opposed to tinkering with mere lifesaving devices, and all manner of projects are being developed there or otherwise being given new life and refinement.

Known projects at New Yorktown include:

Fully Uniform Collision Killing Projector--An experimental ship-based energy weapon. Using the powers of Infinite Improbability and an old concept from Nikola Tesla, the Projector uses a stream of neutrons to focus a stream of "Tennenbaum Energies" (as the Improbability Energies are being called) into a coherent beam. A targeting computer monitors the randomizing effects of the stream and its flow to ensure the effects are just what we want them to be. Upon contact, the stream, in theory, will use entropy itself to shear the target apart. As an added bonus, the reality-warping effects of the Tennenbaum Energies and the targeting computer ensure that upon contact, the beam also "bounces" onto nearby enemies with the same effect. With a sufficient enough charge, theoretically an entire force could be wiped out, or at least severely damaged. However, the Projector has run into problems with power usage, as well as manipulating the streams properly--a lot of "Splash Damage" has been noted, especially with the handheld proof of concept models the staff made. It also has a disturbing tendency to early discharge.

STOMP Drones--A revival of an old concept first floated after the Velvet Divorce, but never implemented due to funding issues. Essentially, heavily armored bipedal drones that are remote controlled by humans but armed with integral heavy weapons systems such as ER PPCs and suchlike. This one is the closest to completion.

Project Krypto--A comical name given to a surprisingly useful project. Essentially, what happens when ERIS attempts to modify German Shepherds and other working dogs used by military and LEOs with enhanced sight and smell and agility and stamina, using a combination of cybernetic augmentation and genetic engineering. SO far, one German Shepherd, named "Rex," has been successfully produced, and he currently is being put through trials.

Superbatteries--Expressing dissatisfaction with current off-the-shelf equipment, the New Yorktown engineers have begun to work on harnessing Tennebaum Energies to power modern military equipment. Tests so far are inconclusive, but initial prototypes are proving smaller and lighter than the usual microfusion batteries.

Mk. 99 Gauss Smasher--Based on a design likely dating from the Apocalypse (likely Fuzz Markham's "Redeemer) the Mk. 99 Gauss Smasher is a heavily updated edition of that weapon using railgun slugs propelled at high velocities. Using a .177 slug (admittedly, tungsten-carbide pellets shaped like commercial airgun pellets), the Mk. 99 uses mass effect fields and a longer rail to propel the slug at high velocities, making it capable of taking out infantry hiding behind armor or strong shielding, as well as light vehicles. It's still in development.

Thanatos Device--what happens when the Infinite Improbability Device stops being a holdover from the Hitchhiker's Guide and gets mean. Armed with an enhanced targeting computer and an upgraded warhead to produce more power, the Device essentially, when dropped onto a planet, is meant to warp reality in the worst possible manner possible. This can be anything from massive geological disasters suddenly occurring, to eldritch entities springing forth, etc. Initial small scale tests using Davy Crockett sized iterations meant to cause damage over a small area required the use of the Paranormal Organism Suppression Team and several infantry divisions officially "on manuevers" to contain the resulting damage.

Improved Torpedoes--Research has been conducted into a commonly used concept that, until recently due to the budget Nazis at the People's Congress, hasn't been fully implemented en masse--FTL torpedoes. These torpedoes utilize either crude hyperdrives or Colonial Jump drives to quickly close the distance, and are being worked on for maximum effect to still keep an ideal payload.

Psyk-Out Bomb--a weapon meant to tear permanent psychic holes in space and time. Mated to a neutron bomb for maximum area denial. Currently in development, and hardest to test for obvious reasons.

Supermilk--an unusual project that actually was Dr. Tennenbaum's last civilian project before returning to the military arena, this is essentially an attempt to make a dairy-based fluid nutritional product that can serve as a "super ration" for use in addressing famines and hospital paitent nutritional needs. Essentially, it is a type of evaporated milk fortified with all your essential vitamins, nutrients, and even a good dose of dietary fiber to ensure proper digestive function, which can either be consumed straight from a retort pouch or reconstituted with water. While this doesn't make it seem any different from your usual nutritional aid, the Armed Forces has insisted that Supermilk meet other military medical requirements; as such, it has been infused with nanotech compounds and combat stims that accelerate healing and promote awareness and alertness in combat. So far, the former has been successful--the latter, not so much.

Project Daffodil--What happens when you give Dornalians adamantium skeletons, enhanced healing factor and biological and cybernetic augmentations along with booster shots for those who have psychic powers already? A world of hurt. Based on previous generation cybernetic augmentations once given to Internal Security Bureau agents and SPATG's later experiments in that regard, Project Daffodil seeks to create enhanced supersoldiers. This project just got started, and is already the least popular one to work on due to the moral, ethical, and safety implications involved.

Project Mayflower--An attempt to create an enhanced Special Operations Capable Support craft. The current focus is on a Special Operations capable version of the Mijolnir-Valkyrie fighter-bomber, with enhanced cloaking systems, range, and regenerative armor and weaponry as well as sensors. One unit, the Lili Marleen, has been made, and is currently being piloted by a pilot from the VMF-666, Cmdr. Anna Ionescu. Initial tests are promising.

Dragon's Tooth Sword--Although the technology has existed for a while, this project seeks to fashion an adjustable length blade for both utility and closecombat usage. So far, current plans involve the manufacture of monofilament blades using nanotechnological processes and carbon fiber and silksteel fibers to produce an extremely sharp blade on demand in any desired length. One specimen, nicknamed the "Dragon's Tooth" because someone played too much Deus Ex, exists.

Project Saffron--seeks to use a combination of psychic manipulation and subliminal messaging projected in audio and visual signals to induce feelings of anxiety and anger among the enemy. The idea is not mind control, as that is beyond the reach of subliminal messaging. But, it is meant to disrupt the enemy in such a way as to promote fear and terror. The signals are projected using an Empowered individual hooked into a brain plug.

Superclean Wash--Someone at the Tennenbaum Institute got the idea to make body wash that, upon application to the human body, could actually spread on a thin coating of nanites that, upon contact with bioelectricity, could project a limited kinetic barrier to stop ballistic weapons and energy weapons. Someone then decided that deserved funding and went to town. The result is a type of bodywash that not only is not lady-scented, but also deflects most pistol-caliber cartridges up to .500 S&W Magnum and stops most blasters. Good times.
